COVID-19: Jammu-Kashmir reports huge jump of 5720 cases; 5 more deaths

The  Government today informed that 5720 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 1890 from Jammu division and 3830 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 384381.Also, 05 Covid deaths have been reported; 04 from Jammu Division and 01 from Kashmir Division.

Moreover, 1877more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 819from Jammu Division and1058 from Kashmir Division.

The Bulletin also informs that no new case of Mucormycosis has been reported today, thus the total number of confirmed casesremains51 across J&K.

On COVID vaccination, the bulletin informs that 39,460doses of COVID vaccine have been administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to 2,01,21,261.

According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 384381 positive cases, 34882 are Active Positive (11602in Jammu Division and 23280 in Kashmir Division), 344908 have recovered and 4591 have died; 2241 in Jammu division and 2350in Kashmir division.

The Bulletin further said that out of 20688396 test results available, 384381 samples have tested positive and 20304015 samples have been tested as negative till date. Besides, 82,903 COVID tests have been conducted in last 24 hours.

Till date 5602163 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 7829persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 34882 in isolation and 429367 in home surveillance. Besides, 5125494 persons have completed their surveillance period.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases reported today, the Bulletin said that Srinagar reported 1341 cases, Baramulla reported 688 cases, Budgam reported 550 cases, Pulwama reported 170 cases, Kupwara reported 208 cases, Anantnag reported 237 cases, Bandipora reported 241 cases, Ganderbal reported 246 cases, Kulgam reported 106 cases while as Shopian reported 43 fresh cases for today.

Similarly, Jammu reported 1306 cases, Reasi reported 71 cases for today, Udhampur reported 100 cases, Rajouri reported 62 cases, Doda reported 103 cases, Kathua reported 61 cases, Samba reported 99 cases, Poonch reported 48 cases, Kishtwar reported 18 cases while as Ramban reported 22 fresh cases for today.

Moreover, the bulletin also highlights that against the availability of 4994 dedicated level 1 & level 2 COVID beds, only 466 ( 9.33%) are occupied.

The bulletin further informs the general public that they can contact helpline numbers 0191-2520982/2674444/2674115/2674908/2549676 in Jammu Division and 0194-2440283/2430581/2452052/2457313/2457312 in Kashmir Division for any kind of guidance and assistance.

In case of emergency, people can avail free ambulance services 24×7 by calling toll free number 108 while as pregnant women and sick infants can avail free services by dialling toll free number 102, the bulletin reads.

It also informs that the public can reach national helpline by dialling 1075.

Meanwhile, Ladakh has reported 149 fresh cases of coronavirus infections, taking the tally to 24,034 while the active cases in the union territory is stated to be 1047, officials said.

The union territory has recorded 222 covid-related deaths — 164 in Leh and 58 in Kargil — since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020, they said.

However,there was no death reported from the union territory on Thursday, they said.

As many as 122 patients were cured and discharged from hospitals in Ladakh. The total number of cured patients is 22,765, they said.

Of the total of 149 fresh cases from Union territory, 125 cases were reported from Leh district and 24 from Kargil district, they said.

A total of 1462 sample reports in Ladakh were found negative, they said.

With this, the total number of COVID-19 active cases in Ladakh has surged to 1047 including 871 in Leh and 176 in Kargil district, they added.
